Hi, I’m Jenn Cruzado
A proud Domino-Rican who grew up in Uptown Manhattan. With over a decade of experience in early childhood education as a teacher, assistant principal, and school manager, I’m passionate about advocating for literacy as a civil right. My work and personal experiences inspire me to create stories that celebrate the beauty, resilience, and vibrancy of underrepresented communities. I’m also a mom to two amazing daughters, who fuel my creative journey every day.

Coco! Cherry! Mango! is a love letter to the neighborhoods that shaped me and my childhood. Growing up in Uptown Manhattan, I was surrounded by the rich culture, historic landmarks, and vibrant communities that inspired this story. I wanted to capture the joy, music, and resilience of these neighborhoods, offering young readers a lyrical and colorful journey through the streets of Uptown NYC. This story is deeply personal, born from my inner child’s wish for books that reflect the beauty of our neighborhoods—not the stereotypes. It’s also a gift to my daughters and a celebration of the culture, history, and warmth of our communities.
